Flight Inspection Services “Call Sign FLIGHT CHECK” is a joint operation of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and United States Air Force. Flight Check conducts airborne NAVAID inspections all across the globe. Every October they travel to McMurdo Station in Antarctica to certify the NAVAIDs and Instrument Approaches during Operation Deep Freeze. These approaches allow the C-17s and C-130s to safely navigate to and from McMurdo.
